history play

A brand new course with Chris Mead.

At Hoopla we want to inspire the next generation of improvisers with new show formats and new improv to create the future of improv, and this is a brand new course from Chris Mead!

The History Play takes place on the same bit of land over the ages. We see generations of people come and go throughout history, with scenes inspired by the emotional memory of the landscape.

Stories will cross generations as the emotions of previous affairs, murders, festivals, wars, celebrations, ceremonies, and gatherings will infuse the land and inspire the actors.

The influence of history will also inspire you to try new genres in your improvisation and take on new characters and stories.

We’ll be exploring this format using improvisation based in emotions and relationships, gradually building up to doing a full show together as a team.

Suitable for people who have previously done long-form, and preferably already done our improvised theatre or emotional connection course or similar.
