A brand new course with Chris Mead.
At Hoopla we want to inspire the next generation of improvisers with new show formats and new improv to create the future of improv, and this is a brand new course from Chris Mead!
The History Play takes place on the same bit of land over the ages. We see generations of people come and go throughout history, with scenes inspired by the emotional memory of the landscape.
Stories will cross generations as the emotions of previous affairs, murders, festivals, wars, celebrations, ceremonies, and gatherings will infuse the land and inspire the actors.
The influence of history will also inspire you to try new genres in your improvisation and take on new characters and stories.
We’ll be exploring this format using improvisation based in emotions and relationships, gradually building up to doing a full show together as a team.

Who is this suitable for?
People with previous long-form improv experience who want to stretch themselves and try out new formats.
How much improv or acting should I have done before doing this course?
You should have done our Level 4 Improv Course or a similar amount of improv or acting somewhere else. This course is not suitable for people new to improv or acting.
What comes after this course?
We have a variety of other advanced improv courses that would be suitable.
What if I’m running late?
We’ll be starting each session at 7pm. This is an advanced course and we’re trying to form a team, so please don’t book this course if you are likely to be late on a regular basis.
What if I can't make every session?
Please don’t book the course if you’re likely to miss more than two sessions.
What’s the class size?
The group size is going to be limited to 14 people - small enough that you get lots and lots of practice and stage time, but big enough that there’s still a lively atmosphere in the workshop. It’ll be fun as we get to know each other and build a team together.
Is there a show at the end?
Can I pay by instalments?
Yes. You can book and pay half at time of booking and pay the other half when the course starts. We email you a payment link for the 2nd payment.
