Each season we invite in a special guest teacher and give them total creative freedom to teach experienced improvisers the skills they need to take things to a professional level.
And this season we have……..Amy Cooke-Hodgson from Austentatious!
Austentatious is one of the most successful improv shows in the world with regular shows on the West End, multiple sold out runs at The Edinburgh Fringe and its own BBC Radio 4 series and it is also the winner of the Chortle comedy award!
Amy will be leading a course on “ninjaprov”, giving training to become a highly skilled improviser so you know how to best serve a scene or show and become the ultimate improv ninja.
You’ll be holding all the cards (comedy, pathos, emotion, plot moves, drama, side-kicking, narrative) and knowing when to play them to make any show awesome and professional. Over the course you’ll putting all these skills together into improvised long-form narratives, all directed by one of the best improvisers in the country.
Most of all Amy will be working on giving you on what you need in the moment to bring out the best improv in you. This is a great chance to work with one of the best improv teachers and directors in the country.
This course will have more feedback than normal Hoopla courses. It is not for beginners, you must have previous long-form experience and a couple of years of regular performing experience to take part.
It is designed for people who are open to feedback and ongoing development to make their shows as professional as possible.

Price: £180. Either payable all at once or £90 at time of booking and £90 when the course starts.

Recent stage credits include the Queen in the UK première of lost Cole Porter musical Jubilee, a nine-month run as the bar maid in Opera Up Close’s Olivier Award-winning La Bohème, Betty in I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change!, Kim in Personals, Ida in Honk! and Catherine in Proof.

Who is this suitable for?
People with previous long-form improv experience who want to become the best improviser they can be and create amazing improv.
How much improv or acting should I have done before doing this course?
You should have done at least our Long-Form Improv Course, or a similar amount of improv somewhere else, and be used to performing improv on stage. This course is not suitable for people totally new to improv.
Is there a show at the end?
Not an official end of course show, the course is designed to inspire people and have them apply what they learn to their own shows. But you are welcome to apply to our Pre-Party shows which are there for people from our courses to gradually build up stage time and develop new shows. We also have a variety of other great performing opportunities.
What comes after this course?
We have a variety of other advanced improv courses that would be suitable and help you get different inspirations and experience the full wondrous word of improv!
What if I’m running late?
We’ll be starting each session at 7pm. This is an advanced course and we’re trying to form a team, so please don’t book this course if you are likely to be late on a regular basis.
What’s the class size?
Our workshops are usually around 14 people.
