Premise Lawyer

Premise Lawyer

Description

Often done in pairs or small groups around the room.

One improviser suggests an out-there or completely nonsense belief and the other improviser comes up with a reason why this is true to help it feel as believable as possible

Example

Improviser 1: Cats should rule the world.

Improviser 2: Of course, I absolutely agree. Cats are focussed on the basics of life like sleeping, eating and cuddling, and it’s when we focus on these basics that we are happy as humans and as a civilization. Plus The Ancient Egyptians worshiped cats as Gods and they were one of the most successful and long running civilizations of all time so were clearly correct to put cats at the top of the hierarchy.

Purpose

Justifying. Justification is a really helpful part of Scenework and Game of the Scene. It means when something unusual or crazy pops up in the scene we can justify it so that it still keeps a believable reality in the scene.
