Improv in the park!
Fun and playful improv workshops outside in the fresh air.
These workshops will be following all government guidelines to be safe. They will be outside with very low class sizes and we will be ensuring a minimum 2 metre distance between people at all times.
But 2 metres doesn’t have to stop the fun!
In fact we will aim to make these workshops more fun than ever! We will be using the natural landscape, fresh air and increased space to inspire new games, scenes and exercises.
We will be playing with how you can you still have a strong social, emotional and playful connection with your scene partner even when performing at a distance from each other.
Every step of the way we will be working to make outside improv the most fun it can be. Explore entire fields and woods in character! Have a huge amount of space for physical play! Incorporate that tree into your scenework!
Is it possible to connect playfully, socially and emotionally across a distance? We think yes! And we think doing so will make you a better improviser in the long-term.
2 metres isn’t that far, and everyone loves a tree.

How to find us:
1. Book your preferred session and park above.
2. The day before the workshop we will email you the exact meeting location with a map, it will tend to be at the nearest tube/train/bus stop to the park or nearest park entrance to that stop.
3. On the day you meet the teacher and group at that location and then we all walk together to the parkprov spot!
4. If you are running late just call the teacher (their number will be in confirmation email we send the day before) and they can whatsapp you a live location tracker that shows you where they are in real-time.
Parkprov is also wheelchair accessible, please let us know in advance if you have accessibility requirements.
Wet weather?
Don’t worry! We won’t make you improvise in the rain!
We will monitor weather conditions and if it looks like rain the workshop will be cancelled and you will be automatically refunded in full. We will make this call the day before and again early morning before the workshop stops, so you’ll have plenty of notice of cancellation due to wet weather.
Low class sizes of just 6 people including teacher:
We could legally run workshops with lots more than 6 but it would feel weird with everyone in the park in groups of 6 or less, so are keeping Parkprov at 6 for now.
From the UK government website: “Businesses and venues following COVID-19 Secure guidelines can host larger groups (than 6). This is also the case for events in public outdoor spaces that are organised by businesses, charitable or political organisations, and public bodies, provided they take reasonable steps to mitigate the risk of transmission, in line with COVID-19 Secure guidance and including completion of a risk assessment.”
Covid-19 Safety
We have followed government guidance to make sure all of our classes and shows are covid-secure, while also working hard to make sure socially-distanced improv is still fun, friendly and playful!

How big is the class size?
6 people including the teacher.
Aren't outside gatherings limited to 6?
Not for companies and organisations as outlined on the government website: "Businesses and venues following COVID-19 Secure guidelines can host larger groups. This is also the case for events in public outdoor spaces that are organised by businesses, charitable or political organisations, and public bodies, provided they take reasonable steps to mitigate the risk of transmission, in line with COVID-19 Secure guidance and including completion of a risk assessment." We could legally run workshops with lots more than 8 but we want to build things up gradually to stay safe so are keeping them at 8 for now.
Who is this suitable for?
All levels of improvisers welcome, but if you are totally new to improv it is best to start with one of the short-form themes on this page or with our Improv Taster Day workshops online.
Do I need previous improv experience?
If you are totally new to improv it is best to try out the short-form themes on this page or try one our taster days online. The games, short-form and character sessions are also quite suitable for people new to improv. The story, long-form and scenes are more suited to people with previous experience.
What do I need to bring?
Clothes you are happy moving around in. You may also want to bring along water, snacks and a cushion or rug to sit on, but those are all optional.
Can I change my booking to a different date?
No. We can't currently support the admin burden and cost of changing dates. You won't be able to change dates so please only book if you can definitely make it.
What covid secure safety measures are you taking?
Limited class size to just 6 people. We will ensure people are at least 2 metres apart at all times. We will also have hand cleaning equipment available. Modified improv games to ensure there is no contact.

Will I feel self-concious doing improv in the park?
We will choose a spot that's out of the way, and we will probably look less odd than British Military Fitness and the kettle bell swinging groups of personal trainer squads.
