Step on stage to build a relationship

Step on stage to build a relationship

From Keith Johnstone.

Telling improvisers to get on stage and “do a scene” can be less helpful than saying “build a relationship”.

Going on stage to build a relationship means we have something we can actually do and means we go on stage focussed on each other and what is happening between us.

As extra practice you can give suggestions that don’t actually inspire relationships, but the improvisers have to find relationships in those suggestions.

For instance customer and sales assistant, but the customer and sales assistant are ex boyfriend and girlfriend from their High School years.
