Do the right scene

Do the right scene

Hoopla are working to improve the numbers of black, asian and minority ethnic people in improv and comedy, following our diversity and accessibility policy.

To help this we run a free monthly show for black, asian and minority ethnic improvisers. It’s run by Tai Campbell, Athena Kugblenu, Monica Gaga and team. They also run a free workshop before the show to help support new people into improv.

We then work with the team to help us cast our other shows, and people from the Do The Right Scene night also perform across all our other nights. The show bonds people together, and from this we help improve the diversity of the rest of the improv scene.

It’s more than a show, they have built an entire community of improvisers and have recently started connecting to the TV industry too with TV writers and producers now coming to see the show to help recruit BAME talent for their productions. Many of the performers at Do The Right Scene have credits writing and performing on BBC1, BBC3, Radio 4, The Guilty Feminist and TED talks.
