improvised rap workshops
With MC Hammersmith!
MC Hammersmith is a multi-award winning hip hop comedian and online comedy sensation! His first ever musical improv teacher was Maria Peters at Hoopla and it’s an honour to welcome him back to Hoopla to teach this one-off workshop on improvised rap as part of our 20th anniversary celebrations!
These workshops will cover the building blocks of improvised rap, how to find your flow, how to successfully rhyme and land punchlines in improvised songs, all while keeping things fun, stress-free, chill and relaxed.
The atmosphere is always very relaxed, fun and supportive!
Rapping is one of the things improvisers find most terrifying. This workshop will help you turn that fear into freedom and fun!
Improvised rap is, additionally, a hugely useful skill for anyone currently improvising musicals and songs, or looking to further their musical improv repertoire.

MC Hammersmith (Will Nameeh):
“I remember getting on numerous trains from Scotland (where I live) to take Hoopla workshops between 2013 and 2015, because there was zero improv training in Scotland at the time! Maria Peters was my first ever musical improv teacher, and she made something which looked unfathomably difficult feel so easy and fun!”
“Happy birthday Hoopla! Thank you for being such an incredible and supportive hub for the London improv scene! The original and still the greatest! And remember Steve, always punch a fire.”
