Hoopla Improv Comedy Club

The UK’s first ever Improv Comedy Club.


Hoopla present a selection of the best improvised comedy in London every Wednesday, Thursday, Friday & Saturday night. At least two different improv groups each night from the UK’s flourishing live impro scene.


Recommended by Time Out, The Evening Standard, The Metro and The Daily Telegraph.


We support all styles of improv and have a variety of styles of improv each night including short-form games, scenes, long-form, improvised plays, improvised films and improv musicals, as well as occasional late night jams, shows and parties.


We also run improv courses for you to try improv yourself as well as stand up comedy courses and corporate training.

8pm. WEDNESDAY 16th MAY 2018:  Improvable And the Chapter of Secrets.


Improvable are previewing a brand new show, be with us as the magic happens!


Improvable and the Chapter of Secrets is an improvised adventure story inspired by the magical world of Harry Potter. Come with us as we play an entirely new chapter of wizarding history, with new heroes and villains.


We combine storytelling with games (like on “Whose Line is it Anyway?” or the Comedy Store Players) to create a unique and fun new show. Will the hero succeed? Will they face their greatest fear? Will they fall victim to some very silly made-up spells? Come and find out in this show that's all about a heroes' journey to greatness.


PLUS a free open to all improv jam from 7pm.

NU Z LAND: Nu Z Land are a fast-paced improv group comprised of BAME improvisers, sketch performers, stand-ups and character comedians with credits on Radio 4, Comedy Central, BBC 3 and BBC1.

SHAKEN NOT STIRRED:

The Improvsied James Bond Movie with Alexander Fox and Dom OKeefe.


DRAG PROV:

Drag king 'Christian Adore and drag queen 'Eaton Messe' are taking the Oxford drag scene by storm. Performed by Francesca Forristal and Ed Scrivens they are a drag double act who improvise a comedy cabaret-like no other!


THE COMMITTEE:

One of London's hottest improv groups, The Committee create hilarious, fast-paced improvised comedy. All of it made up on the spot by performers as seen on BBC One, Channel 4 and Radio 4.


BEINGS:

Susan Harrison (Showstopper!) and Andrew Gentilli (Music Box) conjure humorous improvised stories from this world, and others. Featuring otherworldly musics by Dylan Buckle.

8pm. SATURDAY 19th MAY 2018: IMPROVISED MAMET, NEWSICAL, SALLY & FOX, CRYSTAL MAZE.


IMPROVISED MAMET:

The great David Mamet specialises in writing pressure-cooker plays with intense relationships, high-speed dialogue and lots of swearing.


Dylan Emery and Alan Marriott, co-founders of Grand Theft Impro, will make up a 45-minute play in his style. It will be intense. It will be fast. And there will be a lot of swearing.


SALLY & FOX:

Twoprov with Sally Hodgkiss (Actors Nightmare, Bumper Blyton) and Alexander Fox (Shaken Not Stirred, Oxford Imps).


IMPROVISED CRYSTAL MAZE:

Liam Brennans improv masterpiece, an improvised episode of Crystal Maze.

IMPROVISED MAMET

8pm. TUESDAY 22nd MAY 2018:  PUNDERSTANDABLY, DIRTY WHITE BOYS, NEW JOYCE.


Short form troupe Punderstandably Improv are pleased to announce their debut full length show Improv Towers: The Improvised Game Show. Improv Towers pits a group of improvisers up against each other to battle to become the ‘Improviser of Legends!’ Join the Master of the Keys as they test just how good these competitors are and who has what it takes to win the trophy!


Dirty White Boys: Dirty White Boys are Jack Robertson and Chazz Redhead, two idiots who like making jokes almost as much as they hate each other. Winners of the Best New Act Award a the London Sketch Fest 2016


New Joyce: New Joyce are a spin off from the regular improv workshops held by Sedos, The City of London’s premier amateur theatre company. They serve up high energy improv with a theatrical grounding.

NU Z LAND: Nu Z Land are a fast-paced improv group comprised of BAME improvisers, sketch performers, stand-ups and character comedians with credits on Radio 4, Comedy Central, BBC 3 and BBC1.


THUNDERCLAP: ThunderClap are a hilarious double act made up of award losing comedians Max Dickins and Nick Hall. Join the ol' TC as they make up an improvised story inspired by a one-word suggestion from you, the humble audience. Max and Nick have been described variously as 'Crackingly Original' (The List); 'Brilliant' (The Times); and 'Packed full of laughs' (The Scotsman).


HOOPLA FORMATIONS: A selection of new up and coming groups produced by Hoopla.

PHIL LUNN IS Whoever the audience wants him to be. A new person, with new songs, every show. All completely improvised, based on ideas from the audience.


CRIMINAL. Join a line-up of wonderful comedy talents as they solve a murder in front of your eyes.


Tonight's improvisers are Lauren Shearing ("A compelling comic actress" - The Scotsman), David Reed ( - The Skinny), Charlotte Gittins ( - The Times), and Daniel Roberts ("Devastatingly funny" - Fest).


The RH Experience are an improvised comedy sketch group, who have been performing live shows and producing sketches for a decade.
