Oliver Senton Scenes Workshop

Oliver is a founder member of Showstopper! The Improvised Musical and literary improvisers The School of Night. He runs the impro modules at Drama Studio London and is coming to Hoopla for a one day workshop.

As improvisation becomes more and more a part of the theatre world (and vice-versa), acting skills are becoming central to an improviser's toolkit. As someone with a leg in both camps, Oliver enjoys making improvised scenes as well-staged as rehearsed ones and rehearsed ones as fresh as improvised.

This workshop is for people with previous improv experience, and also performing improvisers.

We'll be looking at listening in depth. Listening is not something you do once in a beginners course and then move on, there's a whole endless world in the here and now on stage so we’ll be listening on an advanced level. Theatre doesn't happen 10 seconds ago so we'll be playing with being totally in the present moment and show how deep we can truly listen on stage.

We’ll also be looking at staging to make improv scenes that look and feel as good as the best rehearsed theatre.

This is part of a series of Saturday workshops where Hoopla are bringing in the best performers in the country to help the improv scene learn from them and grow in new exciting directions.

The best bits of impro, combined with the best bits of acting, from one of the most experienced improvisers in the country.

Please note this workshop is only for people with previous improv experience. If you haven’t done any improv or acting before it’s best to start with our Beginners Improv Course first.
