Improvised Shakespeare with Jules Munns

A world of kings and queens, lovers and knights, monsters and magic. In this one day introduction to improvised Shakespeare, you discover how to use iambic pentameter, metaphor and rich language to create wild, playful situations and characters based on the work of Shakespeare.

“At the end of the workshop, I was doing things that I never thought I could do and thoroughly enjoying myself.”

Whether you hated it at school and have never read a Shakespeare play, or know the plays backwards and can recite sonnets from memory, this course will test and stimulate you, expanding the emotional range and linguistic dexterity of your improv.

Improvisation dramatic and grand, but still playful and irreverent, taught by Jules Munns the former director of Impromptu Shakespeare.

The class is recommended for improvisers who have at least a year’s experience.

If you haven’t done any improv or acting before it’s best to start with our Beginners Improv Course or Beginners Improv Class first.

FAQ

Q: Who is this suitable for?

A: People who’ve done some improv or acting before and want to focus on improvising short-form games and performance games in the style of The Comedy Store Players. If you haven’t done any improv or acting before it’s best to start with our Beginners Improv Course first or Beginners Improv Class.

Q: What follow up classes are there?

A: Please ask Jules on the day as he runs some great courses at The Nursery including more improvised Shakespeare. We also do longer courses on Improvised Theatre and Narrative Long-Form.

Q: How big is the class size?

A: About 14 people, we find this works as it’s big enough to create a fun atmosphere but small enough that you get lots of time to play with each exercises.

Q: Is there a lunch break?

A: Yes there’s a lunch break around 1:30pm and also a few smaller breaks over the day.

Q: Will you be doing it again?

A: Maybe. Please see dates above for confirmed dates and we’ll also announce any future dates on our twitter, facebook and email list.
